Frequently Asked Questions
How does Outfit work?
Using modern, responsive, web design techniques, Outfit turns your designs into flexible, editable, html templates. Based on your brand guidelines, we can determine what elements within these templates can be edited and by whom. Example: your designers can change the background image while content authors can only change text.
Your team can then edit, save and render your materials in seconds into a variety of formats, including: .pdf, .jpg, .png, .html, and .svg. These can be shared with other teams and external parties with a simple click.
Every action takes place in our software-as-a-service platform, in the cloud.

Who benefits from Outfit?
Everyone with an interest in improving the marketing production process, keeping brand consistency and reducing costs. CMOs, CMTs, branding and marketing teams, designers, content authors, creative directors, digital and social media specialists. More about users.
Is Outfit better suited to businesses or agencies?
Both. Outfit is perfectly suited for designers, content authors and brand keepers. As these roles are constantly played by businesses and agencies alike, they can both benefit immensely from using the Outfit platform.
Do businesses still need an agency or creative team to design our campaigns?
Absolutely. Outfit accelerates the marketing material production process while delivering on brand execution. Outfit doesn’t replace the need for a creative team or agency to design your artwork.
This is still an essential step in your campaign process. What Outfit does replace is the need for your agency or creative team to spend countless hours versioning every piece of collateral needed for a campaign, so they can spend more time doing what they do best - being creative!
When should I use Outfit?
When you or your organisation are:
– struggling to keep up with the massive amount of marketing materials needed to cover all your customers’ touch points
– struggling to keep all your marketing materials on brand
– willing to eliminate repetitive steps in your marketing production process.
It can start with a campaign, an event, a new product launch or it can cover an overarching re-branding project. Check some real user examples.
Who creates the HTML templates for our marketing materials?
Outfit has a team of expert designers and templaters to do these for you. You also can use your internal web design or agency to create them - they are just html after all!
Can Outfit be used to produce print ready assets?
Yes, Outfit renders print ready PDF’s.
All materials rendered remain accessible from Outfit. Instead of sending a huge file to a printer or marketing head you can simply send a link.
Does Outfit have an approvals process?
Not as such. Outfit can provide different levels of access to your users, but it is not intended to be an MRM. One of the features of Outfit is that it has been designed in such a way that an approvals process is not necessary on a creative level. The templates are constrained in such a way that content editors can only change the information you allow, and only use creative components that have been pre-approved for that design. This means that users cannot “break” your templates or your brand, alleviating the need for artwork approval.
Will I need to restructure our whole workflow to implement and use Outfit?
No. Outfit doesn’t invade the Zen of your current workflows, it’s a fit for purpose tool that services any workflow. It has no process integration like MRM, instead, by design it fits all content workflows.
Does Outfit allow permission and role levels?
Absolutely. You are able to assign your teams several levels of access within Outfit:
Guest users: create, edit, render and export projects and materials.
Content authors: create, edit, render, export and remove projects and materials.
Designers: can create, edit, render, export and remove projects and materials, as well as templates.
Admins: can create, edit, render, export and remove projects and materials, as well as templates. They can also create teams, add/remove people, as well as change access levels.
What reporting does Outfit provide?
Outfit reports on internal usage of templates and materials, as well as who is rendering what and when - great for getting a bellwether on internal brand and marketing decisions. Outfit also measures the views on your rendered digital assets, if you leave them hosted on the Outfit Amazon CDN storage system (highly responsive, rapid delivery asset network).
How do I start using Outfit?
Is Outfit the same as Canva?
No. The Outfit platform ensures brand consistency by digitising your brand guidelines. This way authors and marketers can produce on brand marketing materials without design skills nor having to wait on designers to produce or edit the materials for them. Canva does not stop authors from producing off brand marketing materials.
So, is Outfit like Canva, but for enterprise brands?
Yes, the Outfit platform is a robust solution for enterprises (and their agencies) that spent years or even decades building their brands and understand the negative impact of distributing and publishing off brand marketing materials.
What makes Outfit so great for enterprise brands?
Once Outfit has digitised your brand guidelines, we create unbreakable templates. From these templates, your authors and marketers can produce and render several marketing materials and formats with the assurance these will all be on brand.
Another exclusive feature of Outfit is the multi-edit. You can edit multiple marketing materials at once, allowing you to quickly respond to campaign changes and market opportunities as they arise.
